Hi all. Decided to register to this forum because of your crd knowledge. We have major problem with our family daily driver. Our 2.8 crd leaks diesel fuel into oil. I Can drive maybe 150miles after oil change and there will be over a litre of diesel fuel mixed in engine oil. Local diesel expert changed injectors but it did not fix problem. Otherwise engine runs fine. No smoke but fuel economy BAD. Engine end of life? ![]() |

No black smoke at all but maybe smell of raw diesel when idle. Engine runs and sounds ok. I sometimes get turbo boost solenoid cel codes. Could malfunctioning turbo case this? Any ideas? |

If it's correctly assembled, There is only one way for fuel to get into the crankcase oil, and that's past the pistons. With that much fuel getting TO the pistons, I can see no way that it could be running properly. Even if it's happening somehow when not running, it would be really bad to start up, because to get to the point of leaking past the pistons, it has to fill the entire combustion chamber in the piston first, and that will have to completely empty out the exhaust before it can run properly, not to mention the fumes getting torched through the turbo and out the exhaust. There's just no where that the fuel goes that can be leaked and do that. Even if the return lines are leaking, it has no way to get into the crankcase. Are you completely sure someone's not pranking you? |

Do you have anyone hinting about getting a new vehicle, perhaps? EDIT: Because the only other way is if it's poured directly in the oil filler spout. |

I can't believe that the injectors were determined to be good... how were they checked, was it at a certified Bosch shop? Where are you located, maybe someone is nearby? I'm the traveling mechanic for these, if you would like me to come and look at it in person. With that much contamination of the oil, there is no way that it can be running properly. Different question... are you sure it is diesel contamination? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

How does one measure the amount of diesel fuel in the oil? |

Thanks for help. Fuel return line seems to be completely clogged! Must be the problem. |
