Standard threads. I put a really big crescent wrench on it and hit it with a big hammer. PB blaster it and let it soak first if necessary

We have a fan clutch wrench. The air driven type we are wackin with big hammer. We ran out of time today. Back are it on Thursday. How can I get my hands on a top center jig to hold the drive train in place well apart? any knowledge about left or right to take off?

What are you talking about?
I thought you were only trying to remove the valve cover?

I'm across the state in Boca if you would like my assistance in tearing it down. I am the traveling mechanic for the CRD and I have and bring all the tools needed to do the work, and I do not think you have a very serious issue - certainly not a dropped valve. Anything that your engine does have at this point is abundantly fixable.

I would offer more answers to your questions, but that last post has me scratching my head a bit too... What exactly did you mean?

Lefty loosy, easiest with the belt still on or a 13mm socket going through one of the holes on the hub to the bolt, this adds more resistance to help the fan break loose
