Found this 2006 Sport 4x4 coming up for sale. Looks pretty clean. Assuming it runs OK, what's it worth with those miles? Any more than $3K?

Ask for maintenance records.
It’s due for another timing belt. Use that to negotiate price.

It's coming up at auction, assume no service records.

If you won't be able to hear it run - $1000.
If you can hear it run and it sounds smooth and even - $2500-3k, but really no more because it is at auction.

You have to figure that it is BONE STOCK and will need absolutely everything done to the motor - as much as pulling the head and replacing the gasket and definitely the valves. If the hood can be opened (don't know what they will let you do) then look at the water bottle. If it is dark / black / muddy and doesn't have yellow or orange coolant in it - then it was run on the wrong stuff and mud / blackness means head gasket leaking. If the overflow section (closest to the center of the engine) of the bottle is full to the top - definite head gasket leak.

You also have to factor ball joints and a likely full suspension refresh.

Like Geordi said, $1,000 if you can't hear it run smoothly. $1,500 otherwise. It's easy to sink arm and leg loads of money into these...

Battery dead when I tried to start it. Missing top of air cleaner box and some sensors hanging loose. They did drive it through and it sounded fine. Went up to $1500 and quit but it sold for $2100.

That would scare me. But then on some state auctions here, folks on the inside would pull a plug wire or something simple to make a piece of equipment run rough or not start or look suspicious. And then buy it cheap after the unknowing were scared off...

I wouldn't be surprised with poor behavior like that, but these CRDs have a way of having problems sneak up on you if you aren't aware of them.

If you are looking for a solid candidate, I have one for sale that is a clean slate. *Brand New* engine and ALL the engine upgrades already done (new head gasket, valves, ARP studs, plugs, not one minute with EGR, elbow kit) as well as a Hemi converter and all new brakes and sensors all around. No it is not going to be $2000, but you won't need to put 8k into it to fix all the hidden issues.

Email me (button below) if you are interested and we can go from there. It is in Florida, but ready to be driven anywhere. $8500.

Naw, just looking to try one for a month or two then flip. Rather put the work into it myself and learn something new.
