Anyone ever make any progress on replacing this obnoxious $250 bearing? I know there are some old threads, but I didn't see where anyone actually successfully replaced just the bearing. Maybe Goronado might have the energy to solve this mystery? I'm going to check with the machine shop as I'm trying to save a customer some cash, and it's just silly to pay that much for one bearing.

Mine was fine, so I didn't have to deal with it. If you can remove it, pressed out, or whatever, you can look them up by size (mm). outside outer race x inside inner race x thickness. Sometimes just those numbers compose the part number.

There is a used one available on eBay for less than $100
https://www.ebay.com/itm/2005-2006-JEEP ... i5&vxp=mtr

or
Mopar America has a new one for $158
BRACKET-FAN - MOPAR (5142661AB)
https://www.moparamerica.com/oem-parts/ ... -5142661ab

If you can remove the bearing and take it to a good bearing supply store, they should be able to measure it (inside & outside dia.) and come up with a replacement number!
Once you get it out, Some bearings also have a PN stamped on one the edges that you may be able to see with a magnifying glass!
If you find a PN, please share...

Fair warning. I usually see them last for 150k+, but this one I'm working on is toast at 105k

Something tells me Mountainman might have an issue with the one on Ebay.

It's the same vendor he had a problem with.

I'm sure it only has 5 minutes of run time. It's practically new!
Luckily I have a customer that I'm saving them a ton by replacing it on reassembly, and it would have destroyed the front end. I personally don't have to mess with it on my CRD because I'm all electric. But I'd really like the satisfaction of successfully fixing one, and then passing along the trick to you all. You all deserve something after listening to my nonsense for 3 years :BINGO:
