the wire harness near the egr, under the fuel filter somehow got unattached from the firewall. It touched something hot and the plastic ribbed protection got melted. Its now down to the insulated wires. I noticed a shock poking around in that area with a wrench. Any suggestions what I should do?
Thanks

Remove battery terminals, then slowly inspect the wiring, if the wire isn't badly damaged then you could split the individual wires in the harness and recover with electricians insulation tape, then wrap them all up back to how they were.
If the damage doesn't look bad, I would try that first, you could use a voltmeter to check if the voltage drops over the damaged area to be sure I guess.
If it's badly damaged then you're looking at chopping out the damaged section and replacing.
Solder new section in and wrap up.

Another question is the clip is hanging off the wire harness, How can I reattach this clip so the wiring is not in contact with hot machinery?
