Over the last few days, I've begun hearing an intake leak coming from the driver's side. It usually starts being noticeable at 2000rpm and is a different pitch to the turbo spooling up, so it's not that. There is a Stage 1 Weeks Kit installed that's been in place for almost two months without issue. The clamps have been checked at the intercooler hose, elbow, and intake manifold adapter; they're all tight. Ditto the studs in the manifold and bolts holding down the intake manifold adapter. At this point, the only things I can reasonably think of as being a problem are either a split in a hose (if I had to suspect one, it would be the original intercooler hose, thanks to 13 years of the usual oil-in-intake-air behaviour) or the RTV at the intake manifold adapter having not sealed properly leading to a leak eventually having opened up. Silicone intercooler hoses are on the to-do list anyway, but if it is the RTV at the intake manifold adapter causing the problem, I'm going to need to replace the gasket between it and the manifold. Does anyone know what I should order for the replacement? |
