With the realization that someone cut the original tail pipe, I'm going to replace the muffler as well. Any suggestions for the DIY home mechanic? The Sasquatch Cat-Back Exhaust looks interesting. Anyone used it?Image

I cut off the cat and everything behind it.
Then clamped a turn down in its place.
Cheap, easy, and kinda loud

Do you have any video of what it sounds like?

Get rid of the choke point and the CAT, both are restrictions, install 2 1/2 straight pipe in place of the CAT to inlet of muffler, install 2 1/2 inlet / outlet *Flowmaster or Magnaflow muffler. This will improve turbo spool up time giving you a little more power and better fuel mileage if you keep your foot out of it.
Sounds great as well...
Any restriction removed from behind the turbo lowers system backpressure and will lower EGT coming into the turbo...
Works for all diesels...

*Exhaust: Flowmaster 942542 Series 40 Delta Flow, 2.50 Center In / 2.50 Offset Out

I also like the Flowmaster build quality, but opted for the quieter 3 chamber 50 series growl https://www.amazon.com/Flowmaster-942550-Delta-Flow-Muffler/dp/B0002Z9NO2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1522210455&sr=8-1&keywords=flowmaster+942550
rather than the 2 chamber 40 series snarl.
Single chamber 10 series bark is louder yet, and not significantly different than Flash's straight pipe turn-down.
Magnaflow makes a decent 2.5 x 2.5 muffler in stainless that's lighter and cheaper than the Flowmasters, last I checked.
If you don't need to have conversations or feel like listening to your stereo less than fully cranked, no muffler is cheaper than any muffler, so if you're going to pay extra for a muffler, make sure you're getting what you want.
Another thing - any system that terminates the pipe before fully exiting past the back bumper will dramatically increase inside drone.
One more thing regarding side exit turnouts - A tire at speed pushes a high air pressure wave in front, and a low pressure area behind. If you decide to terminate your exhaust in front of the rear tire, make sure the pipe extends at or beyond the outer side plane of the rear tire.
Obviously these details on their own are minor, but it's little things that can add up to a thoroughly enjoyable experience, or one that's ... not.
Given good information and recommendations, you can make it how you want.

LOL

Its actually not that bad. With the windows up that is.
Windows down is much louder. (sometimes I just like the sound of my engine :D )
But I don't have to blast my music. The volume of my factory radio rarely get turned above 20.
Been on long family trips and my wife and I can have a casual conversation without yelling (sometimes  )

Anyone using an MBRP Stainless Cat Back? Had one on my 2500 Cummins with good results.
