Has the Jeep CRD proven to be suseptable to the same intake carbon build-up as the Volkswagen turbo diesel? Supposedly around 65k, the American content Volkswagens require a significant tear-down and cleaning. The photos I've seen are concerning, and two drivers with the experience state emphatically that the Liberty has the same issue.

The CRD intake design may not be as bad as the VW, also ULSD will reduce the problem even for VW's. Problem with VW 2000 model year on the design of intake had a 90* turn to left toward head and at that point the intake narrowed greatly in that turn point, probably to about 1/4 of the rest of the intake. I have seen enough of them off and even clean two of them myself, that was main problem. That said it still get in the head and around the valves, lets hope the ULSD helps get rid of the soot problem.
