My 2005 stock CRD is running like it’s got a misfire. This happened suddenly. Power loss. Then it dies while limping home. Would restart only after putting her in Park and turning key off first. Would not restart if I didn’t turn the key off. At idle, she runs like she’s misfiring one cylinder. No strange mechanical noises detected. I tried bleeding the fuel filter head. That didn’t fix it. Where do I start? If someone can contact me directly, I’m on SnapChat as ablythe11 |

Scanning for codes is a good first step. Changing the fuel filter might also be a good idea. |

The p0093 code is the only one that seems relevant to your situation. It indicates a fuel supply problem. Could just be air in fuel and requires more bleeding. Could be a crapped up fuel filter. |

Ok. I’ll try a fuel filter. Thank you. |

Can anyone tell me what these trouble lights mean? ![]() |

Clockwise from Left Seatbelt not applied warning Tire pressure warning Check engine light (CEL) indicates some malfunction The one at the bottom right of the lower triangle 3 is unfamiliar. On mine this is a low oil pressure warning. That one looks as if it may indicate to check oil level, or it could be coolant or transmission related, but I don't know. What model/year vehicle is this? Export? Edit: The P0700 to the best of my knowledge is a generic code indicating that the transmission is not happy. It doesn't indicate what specifically the problem is, it's just the TCM sending a request to the ECM to turn on the check engine light. You need a scanner with ability to interrogate the TCM to find out what the problem really is. Maybe that indicator is telling that the trans fluid is low? Dunno. |

This is a 2005. Don’t know what “export” means. |

Low Coolant Warning Light — This light comes on if the coolant level is low. This light will come on for 3 seconds as a bulb check when the ignition switch is first turned to the ON position. See "Understanding Your Instrument Panel" Section 4, page 167 in the online Owners Manual:> https://www.jeep.com/download/pdf/manua ... iberty.pdf |

Update. Pulled the fuel filter. Drained it. It makes a rattling noise when I shake it. So I’ll be putting on a new one later this evening. |

Ah. Mine is an 06. The low coolant indicator actually says low coolant, and isn't in that location. Thanks for the correction. |

Filter head was cleared of any old gaskets. New filter installed. System bled. Jeep started. Engine still runs very rough. No change. I have a video I can upload. |

How many miles on the jeep? My suspicion is rockers. Pull the driver side cac tube and see if there is any back pressure coming back out |

205,000 miles on her. Here’s a video. I’m manipulating the throttle. https://www.dropbox.com/s/blrsra4f1kgrh ... M.mov?dl=0 |

After listening to the video, it doesn't seem like rockers. If it were rockers, the noise would get worse as rpm went up. But in the video you only hear the noise at just above 2000 and right at 3000. Also, not likely anything in the bottom end because again, the noise would continuously get worse as rpm increased. Earlier you posted a p0401 EGR code. So I kinda wonder if its related to the EGR valve. You also posted a p0102 MAF code. That could be related too. MAF and EGR are related. You could try unplugging the MAF to see if that changes how the engine runs. Although, after 200k miles I'd be surprised if you didn't have a EGR problem. Some other things... Check the small sensor on the side of the air filter box lid. Make sure its firmly plugged in. |

If your EGR system is still in service, try adding a block off plate between the exhaust feed line and the EGR valve. This will eliminate it as your problem! It is simple to make. Can be made out of some sheet metal or the top of a soup or vegetable can. ![]() see this thread for full details:> viewtopic.php?f=5&t=76576 ![]() |
