Any body know what should be a compression in cilinders in Jeep Liberty 2002y 2.5 crd?
A have checked it by the glow plug sockets and it was like:
1: 23 bar (333 psi)
2: 25 bar (362 psi)
3: 23 bar (333 psi)
4: 23 bar (333 psi)
Any body knows how the correct one should looks like?
I spoke with guys in Chrysler factory in Ohio US, and they did't help at all :/ I also waiting for respond from VM Motori in Italy, but after few days i still have no answer. I asked about it at few other forums, like in US, Russia, GB, Poland, Germany...still nothing, nobody knows :/
I heard that it should be at least 21 bar (300 psi) on each but i also heard from different mechanic that it should't be less then 32 bar (460 psi) in each cylinder. So i am a bit confused :/

I don't know about 2.5s but that's high for a 2.8.

High is not bad as long as they are relatively even. The deviation you show is within spec. Maximum deviation between high and low = 5 bar.

I'm curious though, if that is cranking compression or idling?

Those numbers are akin to older non-turbo diesels.

the compression was checked by driving the starter with the fuel system off so that the car could not be ignited, with the pressure gauge screwed into the socket of the spark plugs, from the first cylinder up to the fourth. I have no idea if that is a cranking or idling compression :P

Without ignition would be cranking by the starter alone, as it should be. It seems as if there is very little wear in your engine. A small difference in amount of oil sealing of the rings could account for the small variation you state.

Naturally aspirated diesels of the past commonly had 23-24:1 compression ratios and cranking cylinder pressures 330-350psi when new @ sea level. My 2006 crd turbodiesel is 17.5:1 ratio (250psi new @ sea level). It measured 218-224psi with 137K miles on the short block, and with new head and timing gear @ 3800' elevation.

These numbers are raw static calculations and do not consider the many different small contributing factors that affect the result, so are not "specifications" but are close enough to be useful.

If you are having problems, it seems in a different area.
