 Post subject: engine speed sensor malfunction?

have a check engine light on, had the code read and it said "engine speed sensor malfunction". the guy at oreillys said it was the crank shaft position sensor. it was replaced 20000 miles ago and I have none of the symptoms as before. I think it is the map sensor may be a little plugged as a crank sensor usually doesn't throw a code and the vehicle quits.

They will occasionally trip a DTC when going bad and the ECM senses a loss of signal, a few have reported...
If you have an Autozone close by, they have the OEM Bosch part in their branded Duralast box for ~$50 :wink:

good to know, it has a autozone sensor with 20,000 on it. lifetime warranty.
