Thinking of selling this rare torque monster. We really need a truck to suite our needs now. Not sure how to set a price. NADA and Kelly Blue Book doesn't take into account for all the modifications/ after market stuff.Could use some advice. Here's what we got.
2005 Jeep Liberty Sport CRD,211000 miles, we are original owners, have service records and used synthetic oil from day one,in addition to regular scheduled maintenance we have replaced the following:4 new rocker arms, Green Diesel Engineering Eco tune, no cat or muffler, rebuilt fuel injectors, fuel filter head and pigtail replaced, replaced crankshaft position sensor, Carter fuel tank lift pump, new rear brakes. BFG all terrain tires at 75%. NADA says $5,375. Kelly says $3607so there is a big difference and not reflective of modifications. So how do you set a price? Any suggestions?

Hate to say it, but - and this is speaking from experience with modified vehicles of various kinds - modifications don't mean much when it comes to resale. It's possible that they can turn off potential buyers because they have no way of knowing how well the modifications were performed, and/or make it difficult to impossible to register a vehicle in the jurisdiction where they live. The lack of a cat and muffler are going to be major contributing factors in this.

Do you have bills for the service records and any other maintenance that was performed? When were the timing belt, tensioners, and water pump last replaced? What is the overall condition of the body, drivetrain, interior, instruments, and switchgear? Are there any issues with overheating, shifting, starting, stopping, steering, or handling?

One thing that concerns me is that it's had four new rocker arms out of sixteen. Why weren't the other twelve replaced while everything was open, and what caused the four that were replaced to fail? That sounds indicative of possible timing belt failure.

Finally, you haven't mentioned what you'd like to get for it. That makes it difficult to say if your expectations are reasonable or not.

I'm not bringing any of this up to be rough on you, but these (and other) factors are going to play into what you're likely to get for the vehicle, and even that is dependent upon finding the right buyer on the right day. They're also the sorts of questions that a potential buyer is likely to have.

Additionally, guide prices are just those - guides - and not necessarily indicative of what the market would bear. There's a car parked in our driveway right now that's rarer than a CRD KJ in this part of the world, and its approximate worth is significantly less. Keep in mind that rarity isn't necessarily an indicator of value.

I wish you the best of luck with selling your KJ. Right now, however, there isn't a good answer for your question. Let us know more and we can go from there.

I'd say it's worth what you can get for it.
That kind of depends on how badly and how soon you want/need to sell. With niche vehicles like this, motivated Sellers and Buyers are both rare, and patience should pay off for both.

Edit: Maybe contact this guy.
