Recently removed the intake elbow to replace the ceramic GPs with the Bosch steel 5V. (150K and only one GP exhibits a small crack starting near the tip). It was noted that ERG pipe to intake elbow joint had some orange silicone on it. When rejoining with the clamp, is it necessary to reapply orange silicone to this joint? |

Having recently been fighting leaks in the intake path, I'd say yes. Even a small leak can cause a fairly dramatic drop in power and economy. |

Thanks for the reply. Just trying to get the clamp on now. Kinda a bad location-like everything else. Now I'm trying to imagine doing it with silicone, that's after getting the silicone in there.. BTW- next time I do anything on this vehicle, I'm just gonna drop the whole engine out the bottom and stuff it back up when done! |

If you pull the Alternator, Battery w/tray, grille cover, and left front headlight housing, pretty much everything on that side opens up, and it's only about an hour's work if that. (each way) |

Better yet, install a Weeks Elbow Kit from SasquatchParts.com and get rid of all that EGR crap and possible leak points! ![]() https://shop.sasquatchparts.com/product ... berty-crd/ ![]() |
