I pull a 1000 lb trailer without brakes. I am Planning on doing the front and rear on my 2005 liberty CRD
Any suggestions on Brand and upgrades from the factory?

I use EBC rotors with "yellow stuff" pads. LLLove em.

You can spend as little or as much as you like on brake pads! Of course, the higher the quality, the better and longer lasting the pad will perform.
I prefer semi or full metallic pads for stopping power when pulling loads even though they do produce a little dust.
Metallic's also transfer heat better than most to help prevent pedal fade.

I don't like ceramics due to having a bad experience with a set one time when one of the friction pads came off the backing during a hard stop while pulling a 10k load on my Dodge Cummins. Lost brake pedal while stopping and it scared the heck out of me! But some people like ceramics and swear by them and they don't dust as bad as metallic pads. :roll:

Some of the big box parts stores like NAPA and Autozone sell some very good high end full metallic and ceramic pads and they come with a lifetime warranty so if you ever wear them out, they will replace them with a new set at no cost. Purchase them one time and never have to pay again.
I am running the Duralast Max Premium Metallic Pads on all my vehicles and have had very good results.

Bottom line, it's your decision to make.... :juggle:

I looked at the EBC rotors and yellow stuff pads. and see that the rotors are slotted. The best setup seems to be the whole EBC tow package.

But not sure if I need to go with the slotted discs.

Today I noticed brake pulsation with the ABS light that now goes on and off. Going to park it until I decide and find a good deal
The brakes have never been as good as they could be. I do need rotors and pads all the way around. but 600+ is a little steep
Still shopping!

The rotors on mine aren't slotted, but they are grooved. I believe this is why hard braking in hilly winding country roads no longer cause warped rotors. These guys have solved all the niggling and sometimes dangerous braking problems in all my relatives vehicles.

They are steeply priced, but they will solve your braking issues. Especially with your towing use.

This is one of those instances that you really do get what you pay for.

I went with the EBC disc/rotors front and rear The front is done. the rears tomorrow
I found a broken ABS sensor wire on the right front and the left front sensor wire is showing abrasion. I may try soldering the right one after I get the rear set done for now. that is probably why I have had an intermittent ABS light on for the past month. and now it is all the time. Also, the trip odometer is stuck at 0 miles. I am not sure what that is all about yet.

Broken abs wires does stop odometer/trip miles. Speeds I thought are read by rear different sensor?

What a difference the new brakes make. Have not broken them in enough to tow the boat. The disks and pads were not really that bad. They were really glazed over pretty bad though. I could have probably turned the rotors down and used new pads. There were (NO SHOES LEFT) metal on metal.

I have been reading about ABS and the odometer problem and found this thread.
