I have bled the injectors and they have fuel. I don't have a noid light. I show 14000 to 19000 psi fuel rail pressure. I'm sure they are not firing because I get no smoke or anything from the tail pipe. I can't figure out why they won't fire other than possibly the cam/crank signal sync. I've tried two new cam sensors and a new crank sensor. I've ohmed out the wiring for the cam sensor. The crank sensor codes as soon as I un plug it. And I do read crank speed. I'm at a loss here

Those rail pressure numbers seem too high for cranking. I don’t trust them.

One more thing to try.
Pull the return line off the back end of the rail.
Observe the fuel coming out of the rail outlet while cranking.
There should none or very little fuel coming out.
If there is a lot of fuel coming out of the rail, the problem is the rail pressure solenoid.

I pulled the return line off the rear of the rail and cranked it and got very little fuel out. Enough to put a small wet spot on a rag. I then put a hose on it and run it to a clear jug and got a couple of drips.

As Flash said, There should be absolutely 0 fuel coming from the rear rail return during cranking.

The volume of fuel coming from the CP3 high pressure is surprisingly small when cranking. This is the reason it takes quite awhile to fill the rail, even though the rail is pretty small volume. The rail cavity from end to end is 6mm IIRC. And still it takes around 6 tries at 20 seconds/attempt to fill it up when it's empty.

The sensors and solenoids troubleshooting process in the FSM covers checking for shorts (between the wires) Opens, grounds, and circuit total resistance. All are critical. I've had to replace a wire on mine that looked perfect everywhere I could see it, but when I got a needle to check resistance between the ECM and the connector, there was infinite. In the loom behind the brake booster, in insulation that looked perfectly good, the wires had come separated inside the insulation, and sometimes would make contact but usually not.
Replace the wire.. all good.

With the drop or so coming out of the rail it still holds rail pressure and builds to about 20000 cranking with the solenoid un plugged at the pump and with the valve on the rail un plugged it builds over 1200. If I read everything correctly that would mean that both are good. I would hate to replace one or the other when they test good and I only get a drop or so of fuel coming out. I'm not discounting or ignoring your input. But everything Im testing and seeing shows they are good. Has anyone watched the cam signal and sync on a scanner to see how a running one reads? I can't get cam/crank sync. I've ohmed out the wiring for both now and the wiring all tests good for those sensors. I know you have to have cam and crank signal to start. Could it have jumped time enough to throw off the sync but still sounds good cranking? It died suddenly like you shut the key off. And only get egr codes. I did an egr delete and have codes for that but I was told that you didn't have to do any tuning except to keep the light off. Correct?

Technically you don't even HAVE to do that if you don't mind the CEL being on.

If you only got one drop, that was probably just residual sitting in the port. It does sound like 1) the FPS is working as it should be to start. 2) signal is getting from the ECM and causing it to function, so we can probably rule the FPS out for the time being.

When you try to start it just cranks with nothing going on, or does it sometimes begin to start then just quit?

When I crank it sounds like it is trying fire occasionally but no smoke.

Do these injectors need to be programmed to the ecm? I installed new bosch injectors. I have heard different things from different people. My scan tool is not capable of programming them. Not sure if that could be the issue or not.

I bought brand new bosch injectors when I replaced my head, didn't re-program anything.

The programming is not required for the Jeep to run. Unprogrammed/incorrect programmed injectors will make the jeep sound different when it runs, but will not keep it from starting.

Ok I figured they were like the Mack injectors I'm used to. They will run but may not achieve maximum efficiency or power or balance unless programmed. I am going to have them programmed anyways just in case since nothing else has worked yet.

This was one of the more interesting threads on the site.
Since there hasn't been any activity, one would assume that it was resolved.
What was the resolution?
