Hey guys.... I remember a while back someone had posted wanting to know if anyone had gotten their recall notice yet for the rear lower control arms. Well....checked the mail today and mine had arrived. It was just a simple 1 page recall notice detailing the problem and to expect about an hour for the repair. Anyone else got theirs yet? Jim |

Yep, got my recall in the mail today. Free rear lower control arms. Not that I was having a problem with them, but if they want to give me some new ones and install them for free, I will let them. Will be talking to the local FCA dealer Monday to set up an appointment..... |

That recall went out years ago, when I had mine done. Why do you think you got the recall notice now? |

It popped up after they traced the VIN. It's likely they've been sending it out to people who 'used to' own this one, and didn't catch up with a current owner until now. |

Old recall only applied to "salt" state KJs. New recall applies to all KJs of XX model years. I have no clue if new recall includes those that were done under old recall. |

Thanks for the clarification pap, that makes sense...and if that is the case, I expect many other current owners will be getting "Recall" notices on this issue. |

According to recalls.mopar.com the recall that was just sent out (U38/NHTSA 18V-278) was issued May 3, 2018. |

You don't have to, you can buy them from napa or wherever you feel good at, then calll fca and claim the recall and they send you a Visa card to reimburse. At least that's how my local dealer explained it for me. |

Maybe those replacements were rusty, too... |

WolverineFW wrote: So I wonder what is different from the last one? From what I have read the difference is: the first recall only involved "Rust Belt" states and / or locations; this second new recall covers all locations. Most likely, only vehicles that did not receive a recall notice last time or have not had the recall performed previously by vin number will receive the new recall notice. |

While the wording of the NHTSB notice is a bit ambiguous, I believe it is referring only to vehicles not included in the original recall. I just checked both of my CRDs (which had the recall performed previously) and they currently show no outstanding recall notices. |
