The Sasquatch Parts Provent 200 mount kit arrived yesterday, and was installed this morning. Overall, it's a pretty straightforward process; notes on my installation follow.

- I already had the Provent 200 sitting on the shelf, so only ordered the mounting kit.

- The quality of the parts in the kit is excellent. While they've only been subjected to a 15-minute test drive so far, I'd expect them to hold up well against life in the engine bay.

- The kit that I received came without instructions, but it's a pretty easy process to figure out. Only tools needed were 8mm and 10mm 1/4"-drive sockets and a couple of extensions of varying lengths.

- Removing the airbox is strongly suggested; it makes routing hoses much easier later on.

- Assemble the drain tube (transparent yellow) and drain cock with hose clamps to the Provent first, then attach the Provent to the mounting bracket; the intake and outlet ports on the Provent should be parallel to the bracket and pointing in the direction of the mounting tab. From there, attach the mounting bracket in place - just undo the single 8mm bolt holding the power steering reservoir down, slide the mounting tab under it, and secure both the reservoir and bracket back down with the 8mm bolt.

- You'll need to fish the drain tube to a location of your choice. I decided to go towards the front of the vehicle so that it was away from the heat of the turbo and exhaust as well as accessible from behind the front bumper. If you do the same thing, the power steering hoses are handy for zip-tying it down. Just make sure that whatever path you choose is always on a downward slant and away from anything rotating, articulating, hot, or likely to pinch.

- Pull the engine cover and remove the hose running from the PCV puck to the elbow on the back of the airbox-to-turbo hose. You can discard this if you want.

- Next, identify the new silicone hoses. The upper one is going to have a shape that very neatly goes from the PCV puck, around the radiator overflow tank, and over to the top (intake) port on the Provent; if you have it oriented correctly, the Sasquatch logo should be facing upwards on the end near the Provent. Do not install this hose yet.

- The other silicone hose is going to be the lower one. This one was interesting to figure out the routing on, largely due to the number of things it had to work through or around. Eventually, I was able to attach it to the outlet (lower) port on the Provent, then work it forward to the elbow on the airbox-to-turbo hose by running it between that one and the turbo-to-intercooler hose. Again, the Sasquatch logo should be facing upwards on the side nearest the Provent if it is oriented correctly; large hose clamp goes at the Sasquatch end, smaller hose clamp goes at the elbow end.

- Once you have that one figured out, go ahead and attach the upper hose. The large-diameter end goes on the Provent side with the Sasquatch logo facing up; the small-diameter end goes to the PCV puck. Large hose clamp at the Sasquatch, smaller hose clamp at the PCV puck.

That's about it, and I think I spent more time yakking with the neighbours and petting the cat that kept coming over to see what I was up to than actually installing it. As for the final result:

The airbox-to-turbo hose was also found to have a loose hose clamp at the turbo end, so tightened that down while I was in there. Seemed to have a bit of butt-dyno improvement as a result, but I'll be interested to see what the overall improvement is to the intake path and/or fuel economy over time. I have a suspicion that the intercooler is in need of replacement, but don't want to pull it until the Spring unless absolutely necessary so likely won't check until then.

Great tutorial; thanks for taking the time to write it up.

In preparation for my kit, I checked out the various hoses.

In your description you wrote:

"- Pull the engine cover and remove the hose running from the PCV puck to the elbow on the back of the airbox-to-turbo hose. You can discard this if you want."

This hose to elbow connection won't budge on mine. I can turn the hose but the elbow turns with it. Any tips on removing this hose without breaking the elbow or airbox :?:

Thanks in advance

When the rubber hose is soft, split it with a sharp blade.

I had the same problem. Goronado's suggestion is definitely a possibility, but as I wanted to keep the hose intact in case I needed to revert to the stock system, here's what I did:

- Disconnect the hose at the PCV puck.

- Rotate it upwards until it's perpendicular to the engine (i.e., standing straight up). The elbow in the airbox-to-turbo hose should rotate to allow this.

- Now rotate the hose like a dial around the elbow. You will need to give it some good (but careful) twisting force in both directions, but the rubber should eventually break free of the plastic elbow.

It took about 10 or 15 minutes of twisting for mine to break free; YMMV.

Thanks guys. Great tips.

I am also trying to keep the hose intact (more old parts to add to my growing collection of take offs).

Fine job. Keep us posted on oil collected.

Another project on my list.....

I've run about 3000 miles with the provent installed and yesterday collected 3.5 ounces from my drain hose. It was mostly oil with maybe a half an ounce of water.
I know most of this was supposedly making it through to combustion as oily vapor before, but I'm happy knowing that none of it is getting hung up in my cac and hoses anymore.
