07 diesel. was getting air in fuel lines. i replaced all hoses, filter head twice still had to bleed a heap of air out every morning. carter in tank lift pump installed and it's still coughing at idle under load. is it safe to drive it as it is on a 2500 kilometer round trip?

Normally yes, if new lines do not leak. Air will get out when engine is running. In your shoes I'd still make some tens of km test drive before hitting the long road.

it's still getting air in. or at least it's doing the same thing it was doing when it was leaking. coughing at idle under load and coughing whilst driving.

If that symptom does not disappear after some tens of kms, it definitely has air coming from somewhere, that's all I can say from distance without seeing it. Double check all the lines, make sure filter is ok and no water in fuel, as it can cause similar probs.

Is the filter head plunger soft when every time that you purge the air from the filter?

You sure that it is air in fuel and not a slight leak of fuel on one of the cylinders?

Any codes posted? Air in fuel normally does not post codes but some other problem might do so.

When you replaced the fuel filter make sure the original rubber gasket has not stayed in place inside the cavity...two rubber gaskets can cause this problem.
