I just replaced the head gasket. Put everything back together but right before I did the work the light came on. No stored codes. Maybe a loose connection? Before I did the head gasket I did an egr delete stage 1 and 2. Maybe that caused the light to come on? It's going into limp mode since the light is on.

If the light is on, there will be a code or codes. Perhaps your scanner isn't able to read them, but they will be there.

When you did the egr / fcv delete, what did you do with the now unused connectors and wires?

If you didn't retain the electronic parts that they plug in to, then you will need to get a tune that deletes the DTC codes for the missing circuits.

This is most likely the source of your CEL problem.

I didn't retain the old connectors. The wires are all taped and wrapped up with the alternator wires. I have a green diesel tune. I'll contact those guys.

Well, you're in the right place then! Hopefully if you come across anything you haven't done yet we can help you out. There are a lot of people here who know ridiculous amounts of information about these Jeeps. Feel free to chime in if you have any good info when other people are having trouble.

If I ever have any problems I reference here or email the green diesel engineering guys. They probably hate me because I ask them so many questions.
3 of my 4 liberty crds. I do all the work on them myself.

If you mean the Lightning bolt on left of speedometer, I had it come on after putting ARPs in and thought it was the fuel pedal assembly but swapped it out with another one of mine and no change. Turned out to be a nut on alternator that I had neglected to fully tighten.

BTW owning several isn't all that bad just line them up and do all the upgrades one after another it goes much quicker that way and you can use one set of spare parts for all as well as rob good known parts from one to help diagnose whats wrong on another. Still an occasional new problem comes up.

Of course once I finish one and the electronic control valve acts up on the completely stock one. I had a spare one. Swapped them out and it up and running again. The blue limited has 180,000 miles. It's been one thung after another lately. They all are over 140,000 miles so stuff is bound to go wrong. These can definitely keep you on your toes.

Now my third one has issues. The rear axle support plate isn't attached to the axle anymore. That's my job for today to fix. Sucks that I have disassemble the axle to re rivet the plate back on.

All that work for that darn support plate. So I figured might as well clean it up. Put it in the sand blaster box, etch primer then painted. I'm to go replace the axle seal too while I'm in it.
