My wifes 06 CRD has p1140 and I pulled hose off FCV. It is not working so I understand that should be the cause of the code. My question is should I replace FCV and from where? My hose too the FCV is loaded with oil and I am assuming the EGR and cooler are dirty. I never had the EGR off so what do you recommend? Just clean egr and cooler / replace or delete. Last question. What can I do too stop all the oil in the air hose too FCV. I am reading Sams Noob at this time ![]() |

1) Weeks Stage 1&2 kits eliminate soot from exhaust entering intake + makes service of glow plugs MUCH easier, eliminates potential exhaust and coolant leaks, etc. 1a) Unplugging the FCV and the EGR will cause codes. To eliminate codes, retain the parts of the removed FCV and EGR that have the electrical connector, and plug them back in, tied out of the way. <OR> Get a GDE (or other) tune, that eliminates the DTC codes and CEL. 2) Provent eliminates oil entering turbo, turbo intake hose rot, oil vapors spreading through CAC system. 3) If you don't already have an in-tank fuel lift pump, get one as soon as you can afford it. These will be by far the best $1k - $1.5k you'll ever spend on a CRD. |

Deleting the egr is good. But you will need a ECM tune to delete the related EGR and FCV codes. A Provent filter will help keep oil from the CCV from getting into the intake. |

To add to others good advise on installing a Weeks Kit and adding a ProVent filter! Once you add the Weeks elbow kit and totally remove the FCV, EGR valve, EGR cooler, and all associated cooling lines, you can install a tune to get rid of the DTC (check engine light) by adding one of the DIY free tunes. All it takes is a laptop and a MPPS cable. Details on how are covered in this thread:> viewtopic.php?f=98&t=78418 or purchase one of GDE custom tunes:> http://www.greendieselengineering.com/E ... 1_5.action See this to understand why a Provent is needed on this unique engine:> viewtopic.php?p=847778#p847778 A good pictorial on Provent install:> viewtopic.php?p=881383#p881383 ![]() |
