search wouldn't work so thought I would post an inquiry. check engine light is on but o'reilly's checked but there are no codes. is the crd different to where the scanner won't show all codes. I read some where that the dealer has a different reader that will pull the hidden codes. any experience with this ?
thx

Some code scanners work better than others.
No need to go to the dealer, just need a better code scanner.

I use the torquepro app on my android tablet with the elm327 obd Bluetooth adapter.
Reads all engine codes no problem.

Some of the less expensive scanners will not pull all codes. You will have to take it to a shop that has a very good scanner like a "SnapOn" or DRBII like the Mopar dealers have to get the codes. Some of the higher priced scanners may also show the codes.
You might want to try a different parts stores like AutoZone if you have one in your area, they may have a better scanner?
or
you may try this procedure:
1. Cycle the ignition key On - Off - On - Off - On within 5 seconds.
2. The odometer will show the P-code for the corresponding Diagnostic Trouble Code number.
3. If no DTC's are present, the cluster should display: "done"
"Done" indicates that no DTC's are present and the procedure is complete.

Hi. Our 2006 CRD recently flagged the check engine light also. Did you ever figure this out? We took it in to the dealer and their code reader said something about electrical charging. it runs and starts fine. No issues. Just curious as to what's up with it. We are the original owners and it has 220K miles on it. It's a keeper.

Did you get a code that verified the glow plugs?

yes, but it took a mac code reader to go deep enough to find the code. oreillys c0de reader wasn't good enough.

Scanners are just weird at times with certain engines I have an OBD II scanner about 20 years old probably about time they first got the standard and it has worked on all my codes on 2006 and 2005 crd including the glow plug codes several times . I also use the torque pro blue tooth type scanner.
