I just finished installing the JBA upper arms for a lifted KJ.
I also put my stock KJ wheels back on with 245-75-16 tires on them, in anticipation of having 265-75-16 tires installed monday morning.
With the 245-75-16 tires on there, there is less than a 3/8 inch gap between the inner tire sidewall and the outer edge of the JBA upper arm.
So now I'm thinking that 265-75-16 will rub on the upper arm and therefore would be a bad choice.

Anybody else running 265 tires with the JBA upper arms?
(Mass-hole, I'm pretty sure you are/were, please advise)

Yes, I could use spacers, but I'd rather not have to.

I have both and no rubbing on the jba arms, but they are on the Moab/Rubicon wheels.

Ok. Good to know.
I think the Moab wheels have a different backspacing.

BTW, I have both my front and rear sway bars removed now.
I removed the rear back in november and didn't notice any difference in handling.
Now with the font removed, its noticeable, but not horrible.
Like you probably wouldn't want to run a high speed slalom course but normal driving is ok.
If loaded up my roof rack then it might be a bit worse.
However, bumps and dips seem to be a lot smoother.

I actually had my front disconnected for a couple weeks last month. I have the JBA quick discos and one of the lock pins broke so it wouldn’t stay on the bar. It really isn’t that bad and it really smooths out off angle bumps. Never tried the rear bar since the front end seems so stiff with the OME 790’s

Moab wheel backspacing is the same as stock, but they are 1 inch wider than the stock wheels.

245/75's are great with a tuned CRD, go 265/75 and regear is needed. I guess maybe not in flatland, but the Rockies for sure.
I'm still trimming plastic to stop rub with my 245/75's, can 265/75's really fit with full stuff without eating a fender or whatever?

I am running 245/75's and have never had any rubbing issues.
But I have Ironman Springs & 1/2" clevis spacers, not OME's which may make a difference?
I have a set of ProComp 265/75's in stock that came off my Dodge I could mount, but I think they would be problematic in rubbing and would cause a loss of power even with the Stage IV Hot Tune...

I was running 255-75-17 tires on KJ wheels with 1.5 inch adapters.
That was exactly a 32 inch tall tire and I did plenty of clearancing to make them fit.
The 265-75-16 tires would be slightly shorter and slightly wider and so the should fit.
But...

After putting the JBA upper arms on and putting the old 245-75-16 tires back on with no spacers, there is less than 10mm of clearance between the inner side wall and the new upper arm.
265-75-16 tires would be 20mm wider and I think they will rub.
My friend thinks I should go with them and just use spacers.
I’m trying to avoid using spacers.

So maybe I should just go with 235-85-16 tires.

And taller tires just look better for filling in all that open space in the wheel wells.

Here it is with the 255-75-17 tires

I’ve run mine on some pretty rugged forest roads with the sway bar disconnected and they were fine. Only time I get rub is backing out of my driveway oddly enough.

I did pound the pinch weld flat and bought some cheap wheel well liners off eBay that I could shape much easier with my heat gun then the stock ones. I just heated em up and laid them as flat as possible.

Stock KJ 16" wheels have 5.5" back spacing and MOAB's have 5" of back spacing.

That's cool that 265/75's can fit with the regular old OME lift (with moabs anyhow). I'm still limited in the snow where I go, so thinking I should drop a VM2.8 in a Rubicon with 35-37's though. I wonder how much snow that would get me through, and if the cab is any taller. I'm getting a sore neck ducking to see the stop lights since I had to move back to the city :banghead:

I went with the 235-85-16 tires.
Overall I’m pleased. Plenty of clearance zero rubbing.
Got an alignment too and the steering is fantastic.

Yup, 0.3 inch narrower.
Slightly more than 1/4 inch.
If I ever get stuck in the mud miles from anywhere, it won’t be because my tires 1/4 too narrow.

I'm running 238/85s as well, for the last 3 years. Had to trim the front fender wells (not as drastically as the above pics), pound the pinch weld and get a new smaller washer fluid bottle. No regear and it still holds 8% grades at 75mph. I still get an average of 23.5mpg in 50/50 city/highway driving that I got before. I track mpg religiously at every fillup.
