Anybody else have this problem? Are there two different blower resistors for Libby's? The part they sent has a 2x2-tab square plug & a protruding metallic-plate whereas mine is a 5-tab flat array with the circuit-board 'tongue' that wafers into the blower. ID'S INCORRECT unit: "OEM Part Number: 68004196AA Manufacturer Number: 68004196AA" What beast does that thing feed? Cuz it ain't a Libby. Anyhoo, 346pesos($19) for CORRECT part @ Azone: Duralast Part #JA1476. (Presumably same PN stateside) 10min. later & my four blower speeds are back. Nice! Install Note: Many excellent youtubes guiding this R&R procedure, however ABSOLUTELY remove the (2) 8mm mounting bolts FIRST, then carefully manuever the 'tongue' out of the blower with the plug still attached. Use a beefy slot screwdriver to PUSH the RED tab-lock open from the other side (accessible-when-loose). With the old unit dangling by the plug you can wrassle-it free a LOT easier than if installed. With the tab-lock 'unlocked', depress the tab and JIGGLE WHILE PULLING. You should be able to separate the plug from the part without needing 'gripping' tools. Even if you want to use pliers it's still easier with the part detached from the blower housing and dangling by its plug. It's a tough one, but it WILL separate; be patient, persistent and above all do NOT damage the plug out of frustration. Most USA owners replace this resistor block with one from a Sebring earlier than 2005. This is a much more robust part which plugs straight in. Next time if this new part of yours fails do a search here...lots of good information here! Here in SA we did not have the Sebring ever but so far my 2002 Export CRD has not given me problem with this resistor block...if it fails I have no choice but to buy OEM from the Dealers or try find on in a breaker yard! |

Don't have a DCJ # for the Sebring resistor but it's aftermarket BWD RU1040. Hopefully the OP communicated the issue directly with IdParts. |

Thanks for the Sebring PN. I'll ask ID why they don't just stock those instead. US holiday weekend: I'll contact them tomorrow. I'll also inquire whether they plan on a "cyber sale" around US thanksgiving: ready to procure a Suncoast TC & other " 'bout time"ers. Cheers |

ID credited the 14.95. Per usual, zero hassle. Andrea viewed this thread and, thanks entirely to the LJ brain-trust, they're going to start stocking the Sebring resistor instead of the OEM Libby. Where else on the planet do you get that kind of responsiveness? Nowhere. These folks more than deserve our loyalty. Re a November-ish "Cyber-Sale": Yes, but limited somewhat to Mopar parts. And they don't carry Suncoast TC's so I'm forced to mull the Euro (yeah, yeah; "Other Threads!"). Also mutually agreed that the (whoops!) wrangler resistor deserves a local home here in Baja in somebody's dusty, family-loaded non-KJ. "Oye, we really missed that #2 fan setting. Gracias!" [In a land liberated from mowed and manicured lawns and fancy 'lectric dishwashers, no pretension in sight. Actually, there is. But that's another story...] Many thanks to the mighty Papa, WW and G-nado for confirming PN's and application. Aloha |
