2005 Jeep Liberty CRD. I was driving in the mountains last week and heard a pop sound followed by loss of power. I got a tow home. The turbo intake hose had nearly broke in 2 at the turbo side.

I have replaced this with a new hose and checked the other two CAC hoses (I replaced them 2 years ago) and they are fine.

However, I am wondering if my turbo has maybe sucked in some of this broken hose and is now damaged? I recorded this VIDEO https://youtu.be/XT9jFzzx_sg and was hoping someone might recognize the sound. There is a general loss of power.

Thanks very much.

Kerry

Yes it sounds bad. But I can’t tell if it’s the turbo.

Pull the turbo inlet hose off, stick your fingers in there, and try to wiggle the shaft.
It should not wiggle at all.

Thanks for the reply. I can not detect any side to side movement. Feels okay. This is my first turbo vehicle so a turbo issue is new territory for me.

I pulled the turbo off today and now it is very easy to see the damaged fins.

The video shows the symptoms and the pic shows the problem.

Hope it can help someone.
