Any pointers would be greatly appreciated. The repair manual is a little vague on the procedure.

Has anyone ever had the rear crankshaft support bolts break? I followed the torque spec's and one broke. I can get the broken piece out. I'm thinking about just upgrading to grade 8 bolts. After I get the broken piece out.

That link kinda helps. I was smart enough to take pictures as I went a long. Just wondering now if anyone had any bolts breaking. I'm almost convinced someone might have put the seal in backwards because it was so trashed it looked like it was spinning. I also thought the torque spec's were a little high for the 10mm bolt that broke. Im also thinking someone put the wrong bolts in. It always leaked a little oil ever since I bought it. The bell housing had oil on it all the time.

Since you have the tranny out at least replace the front pump with the upgraded one and maybe consider a better torque converter. Remember only ATF+4 fluid although I don't recall how much other than a lot.

Front pump? It's got the European torque converter. The hemi style one couldn't handle the hot tune. So I got the European one. The tranny has worked flawlessly since the new converter was put in. It's not the original transmission. I was playing in a river and Creek one weekend and didn't drain the trans afterwards. Well it developed shifting issues. Had milkshake looking fluid in it. I found this one for 900 dollars out of a wrecked Durango with 70 thousand miles on it. Replaced seals and sensors worked just fine except for the torque converter shudder. I can't complain. When it's running everything seems to operate good.

Since I had to drop the exhaust I'm going to delete the cat. Just bought the parts and clamps do do that.

If you have not done so, you should tie the transmission vent on top into the transfer case vent hose using a "Tee".
The OEM transfer case vent hose runs all the way to the firewall to keep water out of the case.
The transmission vent on top of the transmission housing from the factory is a very short metal line that is not connected to anything.
So if you get the transmission below water level, water can enter the case.
It is very simple to add a short piece of rubber hose and a clamp to this metal vent and then cut and "Tee" it into the OEM transfer case hose already in place using 3 clamps .
Did this on mine several years ago right after I got it.
This is a simple but very worthwhile mod especially if you ever encounter any deep water.... :D

I basically got the same parts sasquatch parts offers at my local auto parts store.
