My Australian 2006 KJ Cherokee 2.8 Diesel with 185K Km, started showing fault codes
P1265 and P0673. Tried clearing the codes a few times, and also removing the battery terminals overnight, but no luck. Jeep drives fine and no smoke or lack of power. City consumption is just above 10L /100. Starts just fine as I am located in sunny QLD so glow plug issues would have minimal affect.

Using Torque Pro, P0673 shows an issue with glow plug on Cylinder 3, so I assume it will need to be replaced. P1265 shows also shows an issue with Glow Plug #3.

I assume it might be time for new injectors, or could it be something else ?
Can I just ignore the errors until I get it fixed at the next timing belt change ?

It could be a bad GP..
It could also be a corroded connection, or a connection where the wire has come loose from the GP power terminal. Possibly the gp wire is damaged internally.

I will have to replace the glow plugs as I have the originals at 185000 Km.

Went onto the Bosch website and the recommended GP were 0250202038 which is 11v rated.
NGK recommended Y1031J which is also 11v.

However these seem to be rated at 11v, and I am pretty sure I have 7v.

Is there an issue running these Bosch GP 0250202038 in my 2006 CRD ?
The weather here in Brisbane never goes below 10c.

There is also the question if I have to get anything else done like flashing the ECU or changing the power adapter that feeds the GP?

I was advised by a shop the 11v rating on the Bosch and NGK, simply states it can handle up to 11v (not sure if this is true).

What is the Bosch 5v part number?

The 11 volt plugs are only for the Export 2.5 CRD from 2002 to 2003 I believe....definitely not for 2006 CRD!

There is no glow plug controller on these early 2.5 CRDs....two fat relays supply 12 volts direct to the plugs...drops to 11 volts by the time it gets to the plugs themselves. The ECM then rapidly switches the plug ON/OFF with Pulse Width Modulation. The ECM does not check the plugs at all...merely checks that the relay coils are not open circuit or shorted out. Pretty basic system that works fine. I saw some posts from Austrian KJ owners who were not happy with the 5v/7v system on their newer CRDs and had developed a system to backtrack to the 11 volt plug system!

My 2002 Export 2.5 CRD uses the 11 volt plugs.

Some CRD owners like to use 5v plugs with the 7v controller tune in the cold climates.

Just to clarify I am in Australia, Brisbane.
Temps here are generally hot or hotter 10c to 40c, so low temp start is not really an issue.

I contacted Bosch and NGK to double check on the provided 11v parts, and I was told they are the correct ones recommended.
I then rang 2 diesel specialists and they also said I have to correct parts.

I am not sure why both NGK and Bosch both recommend the 11v parts in Australia.

I can get the 5v Bosch plugs (0250402003), but I need to get it overseas and will take me some time.

Definitely not 11 volt glow plugs for the 2006 CRD.....as your Ausjeepoffroad site also confirms.

I really do not know where these part supplier experts come from...at least I know where to find employment when I become old and senile!

I ended up going with Bosch 5v (0250402003), although I am sure I am on 7v ceramics currently.

From what I have been able to find out, I shouldn't need to flash the ECU and hoping it will not throw an error.
IDPart are also recommending this plug regardless of programming.
