I just did my 200k maintenance and replaced the transmission mount. Everything went fine and I've put about a thousand miles on it since. It doesn't seem to have the WOT power it did and since I tweaked the exhaust quite a bit changing the mount I suspect I knocked the cat apart. One other clue was that I had a pile of what looked to be oily cat core particles out behind the exhaust when I ran it for a while after the change. Basically it feels like cars I've had before with plugged convertors.

Anyone know what parts I need to remove both the converter and the muffler? If I have to, I'll dig in and measure if no one has measurements handy.

I searched but didn't find anything.

There is no "kit" for this mod.
You just cut out the muffler and cat, then add 2.5" pipe to join whats left. Either by welding or clamping in the pipe.
A good exhaust shop could do it for you. Although some shops may not be willing to remove your cat (an emissions control device) but you could probably do all the removal yourself, then bring it to the shop.

Myself, I unbolted and removed the muffler and tailpipe. Then I cut out the cat.
Then I just clamped on a turn-down in place of where the cat was. So its not a complete exhaust all the way out to the bumper but it works for me and was very easy to do.

As long as it's not welded in, it's known as a "test pipe" and is completely legal, at least around here.

Thank you both for the info.

Flash,
Does your turn down happen somewhere around the passenger footwell then? Is it really loud or does the turbo keep the noise down a bit?

I would just cut the muffler, if you do cat and muffler it sounds terrible. It also stinks like raw diesel fuel. I kept the cat on mine and my wife's I deleted the whole thing but wish I had left the cat on hers now.

The turn down is right after the trans crossmember.
It’s kinda loud. Not awful. Not nearly loud as some of the Harley’s riding around here.
Definitely a lot quieter with the windows up and my wife doesn’t complain.

And Dez mentioned the smell.
I don’t notice anything odd about the exhaust smell but maybe I've become used to it.
My wife’s superpower is her sense of smell. If something smells bad she won’t hesitate to comment about it.
She has never mentioned the exhaust smell.

Another option.
You can remove the CAT and the "choke point" just in front of it along with the stock muffler and install a piece of 2.5" exhaust tubing in their place that most any muffler shop can supply you.
It can be connected to the OEM tailpipe which will put all the noise and fumes out the rear of the vehicle.
You can also install a 2.5" in/out straight through type *muffler along with the OEM tailpipe and it will dampen the noise considerably.
It will be just a nice mellow tone that cannot even be heard with the windows rolled up... :D

Welp,
I found my power problem tonight. Saw the check engine light and pulled a code of 1189. Sure enough the MAF had come unplugged. Problem solved with it back together.

Flash, thanks for the pic. I think if I make any changes I probably should run it all the way to the back of the car because there are a couple sensitive noses in the family.

Frankly, it's running so well with the mech fan off and the new timing belt, I just want to drive it for a bit.

WWDiesel, next spring I think I will try a straight pipe through. If that's too loud I'll add a flowmaster inline. I'll probably remove the broken viscous heater too for even less parasitic loss.
