Hi
Does anyone know if the TCM module is plug and play? Or does that need to be programmed? I am going to buy the transmission tune from GDE but I was going to buy a used one off of eBay and send it to GDE for them to flash.

Pretty sure it is plug and play. A few years ago I pulled one out of one CRD and put it in another to see if the original was bad. It worked fine in both CRD's.

They are not vehicle specific, only transmission type specific. Some have installed a TCM from a Dodge Truck. Changes shift points quite a bit but can be dangerous due to overreving engine when downshifting in certain situations.

Any TCM for a 545rfe can be used.
Not to be confused with the 45rfe which is physically the same transmission but programmed as a 4 speed (no 5th gear).
A TCM from a 05 or 06 CRD is preferred.

I’m using a TCM from a 05 Dodge Ram Hemi.
Shift points are slightly different and takes a little getting used to. Also requires more right foot management. But it will shift into 5th at 48mph if I allow it to.

I wish I could get more manual control of this transmission. Can’t do it without a standalone controller and more $$$$.

How come you don’t do the GDE transmission tune?
