Any opinions / comparisons between Samco and Mishimoto Silicone intercooler hoses?

Price point on the Mishimoto hoses is lower (even when you have to buy clamps) and they do come in some of the funky colours blue, red & black.

Thanks in advance

Samcos are worth the extra money. They are the highest quality and manufactured in Europe. Mishimotos are made in China.

Samco also went out of their way to work with me to develop the CRD boost hoses. We used to have no option in boost hoses, just factory, and those fail often.

The Very first set of Samco CRD hoses ever made(the prototype) is still running strong in my CRD.

Without Samco we would not have cheap knockoffs.

I went and looked up the date, Dec 1 2007 is when I first installed them. So nearly 11 years and no signs of needing replacement.

Also I'm using the original clamps with mine. No problems with those either. I don't see the need to purchase other clamps. I have seen which band clamps clamp too hard and deform the plastic intercooler pipes.

Hello again Sir Sam,

Do you recommend re-using the black mesh that comes on the OEM hoses?

Thanks in advance for advice.

If you find a good deal on mishimotos then there is no reason to pass them up. I’ve had them on 4+ years and really pushed my turbo here at altitude and they held up fine. Only reason I got rid of them was because I got an aftermarket intercooler and had to build my own cac lines.

I think when I got mine they were on clearance for $125 or something dumb. I don’t care how good the Samcos are for that price.

I reused the black mesh from the OEM hoses on my Samco's.
A little extra insurance never hurts!
And we aren't building show engines....

I tried, I could not get the chinese finger puzzle mesh over the samco since they are larger diameter. If you can I think it could help protect against rubs.

My upper Samco hose is shot as when the turbo went it shot shrapnel through the upper hose. Right now I’ve got the factory upper installed and want to replace it with something better. Unfortunately you can only by the Samco’s and the Mishimoto’s as pairs which I don’t need. So a question for you Mass-hole, would you make your own CAC hoses again (upper hose in my case) or just bite the bullet and buy the set of silicone ones?

Same question for Seth as I know that he had previously built his own CAC hoses.

.....Make your own.

What was you source for the rubber pipe connections? Standard radiator hose?

You can find off the shelf silicon hose couplers in different diameters and bends for custom IC piping work. Search around online and you will see plenty, the hard part is figuring out what ones you need.

I had to. I probably would not if I still had to stock intercooler just because I wouldnt want to increase the number of connections that could fail. The regular silicone hoses are fine.
