My wife and I just bought an 06 diesel Liberty after considerable looking and research. Many hours learning from this great forum. The nature of my first question comes as a surprise to me. 100,000 miles on the car so I am on line to order a timing belt and water pump. To my surprise Rock Auto does not have a water pump listed. To my shock Ebay has them for 350 dollars. Like most people I replace the water pump when I do a timing belt. But I have never paid anything near 350 bucks for one. Does that price suggest they must be bulletproof and I can skip replacing it? Does this suggest engine parts are expensive and hard to get?
I also drive an 82 Isuzu diesel pickup so I am accustomed to spending time and money locating parts. However I was really surprised about the water pump.
Thanks

Replace the water pump for sure.

I'd recommend IDparts for your parts needs.
