This is not a one-tank or one-month thing. NO EVIC. Since getting my CRD on the road, I have recorded every gallon of fuel put in the tank, and the mileage at every fill. I keep a logbook in the rig, and keep it current. This is total miles over the last 2 years, divided by the total gallons. This includes every trip, long or short, and every type of driving, from granny to aggressive, hours spend idling waiting for someone to finish shopping, and so far, 4 hours of dyno runs. Everything The engine is stock with a complete new top end 2 years ago. Sasquatch turbo. Yeti commercial (purchased) custom tune, and a sequence of tunes to get it here. My 2 year total average fuel mileage is 24.3 MPG. I'll wager that if anyone 1) has a relatively sound engine, 2) ignores EVIC and records real numbers and doesn't miss any, 3) has a moderately heavy right foot, 4) spends about 80% or more of their miles on pavement. their real long term mileage will not be too far off that mark. I guess I should add a few more possibly pertinent specifics as others have done. These have been consistent the full time. - All fuel purchased diesel, with Power Service treatment, Distributor treated, except 10 gallons of B5 when nothing else was available. - Original trans swapped for 2010 Hemi trans a year ago - Tires as listed in my sig. Rotated once. Kept at 32 psi - All operation from sea level to ~5000 foot elevation. - EGR deleted via Weeks kits. - Stock diffs and gears. - in-tank lift pump - Cruise Control still not working. - No lift. Stock face. - Viscous Heater intact and working. - Mobil1 TDT 5w-40 - Mann air filter - Stock thermostat, still working correctly. - EHD GM 11 blade fan / clutch. |

Mine is 23.5 lifetime average since I bought it new in 2005. Not EVIC numbers (didn't have one for a long time). Hand calculated every time. |

I use fuelly.com to track mpg. No evic, all hand calculated. Even calculated and applied a correction factor to compensate for tire size vs odometer calibration. I’ve logged 170,000 miles into fuelly. Lifetime average = 24.8 mpg I started out averaging just over 26 mpg. But over the years it has slowly dropped. |

14 months of data with miles traveled adjusted for my tire size: 21.0 ![]() I blame a <10 mile commute and having to accelerate quickly from a dead stop to 70mph on a cold engine every morning. I just changed my u joints and one was trash, maybe that will help? |

I have spent the past two years driving 650 miles per week over the same route (HWY 401 for those Canadians). Mileage hand calculated every tank. Averaged 25.6, granted this is all highway miles, but at 75-80mph. My CRD is similar to the OP's except with a GDE max torque tune. However, I do have a HDS thermostat which keeps the engine at a steady 203 degrees F. I am just coming up for the second timing belt change. The engine has never been apart other than the first timing belt change. Regular maintenance with 5W40 T6 Rotella. |

Completely stock my 2005 got 23mpg in the summer and 19mpg in the winter until the F37 reflash. After that I got 19mpg summer, and 14mpg winter. I'm hoping the GDE eco-tune will help whenever I get it back on the road. Best tank ever was 25mpg, once. |

My 4.5 year, 45k mile average since adding GDE full tq eco tune is 22.94. My odometer is off by right on 10% so I make true MPG to be ~25. I use opti lube xpd in every tank and besides the slightly larger tires and tune am stock. I notice at least a 3 mpg difference between summer and winter fuel. I can never get 400 miles on a tank in winter. Got close to 600 once in summer on a road trip. I think the entire trip was downhill with the wind at my back. ![]() |
