Well I finally had time to figure out I had somehow installed the seal wrong. So when the new one comes in it will be installed the right way. You can see I have some other engine projects keeping me busy.

Hopefully the washer that I and others have forgot didn't go out with the trash (stuck to the old seal I think). Easy mistake to make.
On the bright side, my new crank seal has been worked hard for about 35k miles and still holds.
Remove your ehm folks...

Is that engine at the front of the pic the new one for the Libby? Might need new springs!

On a serious note. Is your new seal Viton?

My experience with VM rear main seals has been with 425's in XJ's, you didn't get them in the US. The original seals were black rubber & soon leaked like a British motor bike. Replaced with Viton & no leak after 100,000 miles.

The motor in front of the libby is a 392 6.1l out of a charger srt8. We broke it down and looked it over for a buddy of mine. Unfortunately it's not going in the libby. I like the diesel motor too much to swap it out.

I like the look of those grill inserts. Look like expanded mesh. Did you make them or are they available some place?
The Libby would have stretch marks if you tried to put a 392 in it!
