Hi all, while checking glow plug resistance due to a P1267 code (verified #4 is bad), I noticed a two wire (BR/OR and BR) green male electrical connector near the glow plug controller that is unplugged with nothing in site that I can see to plug it in to. In looking at the service manual it appears it is either for the fuel pressure solenoid (not probable as I would assume it would not run with that unplugged) or the water in fuel sensor. When I just replaced the fuel filter there was not a sensor on the bottom so maybe that it is but would like a more sr CRD owners help to verify.

One of the wires is broke as well, I can see the wire that is broke.

Attached are a couple pics.

I just got the 2005 liberty limited a couple weeks ago and learning a lot about this engine/vehicle.

Looks like the water in fuel (WIF) sensor plug. The previous owner probably replaced the fuel filter without transferring the WIF sensor to the new filter.

thanks Ludi and IA. Looks like IDparts has one for $24, none of the local auto parts stores have one in stock...may also need to get the connector since it is broke close to the connector.

If the filter you used has no sensor on the bottom, it hurts nothing to just leave it unplugged. It does put you at risk if you get a tank full of cr@p fuel, but if you always fill from the same place the risk is minimal.
