Probably but if it's like the ones I've seen on other vehicles it's a pretty coarse screen. I don't think an inline pre-filter is critical but it won't hurt although if you get one I'd get a see thru kind so it's easy to check if it's picking up any crud.
PS - the CRD tank is plastic and unlikely to shed crud like the old steel tanks that can rust inside from moisture in the fuel. Hence anything in the tank that could be picked up had to come in from the outside past the pump filters except of course algae which is a whole other issue.
