I think I was sent the wrong part. Sasquatch sent me 162SL60B. I check that and find it is a Detroit Locker not Truetrac. Their website seems to have it listing wrong.

Diesel, tuning, 4:10 gears, bigger wheels, and a locker with an aluminum housing. That sounds like a dangerous combination.

I read online some say it is the standard Dana 30 and others are saying it is a special one. I can only find one part listing for any Dana 30 = 912A585 also called TT70P53075.

I believe 912A585 is correct but let me double check my orders.

Edit: Yes, I ordered 912A585 for the front and 912A553 for the rear.

I don't believe it is special, I think you just have to be careful that you order the one for the correct gearing. I believe there is another part number of the TT that fits <3.73 gearing.

FRONT AXLE (Dana 30A)
The OEM front axle housing as you stated is made of cast aluminum and putting any kind of a locker in it is really not recommended.
See below*

The first part no. you listed, 162SL60B, is a Eaton Detroit Locker Differential for a 27 Spline Dana 30 Axle housing.
The second part no. you listed, 912A585, is a Eaton TrueTrac for a 27 Spline Dana 30 Front Axle housing.

REAR AXLE (Chrysler 8.25)
OEM Mopar PN: 52098778AE
Dana Trac-Lok Posi Limited Slip differential is: 84852

TrueTrac by Eaton is: EAT912A553
Detroit Locker by Eaton is: 187C179A
The 8.25" Chrysler rear axle housing is made of cast steel.

*from WikiBooks
The 27 spline Dana 30a, also know by Chrysler as the 186FIA, has always been the only front axle available in the Jeep Liberty. It's an IFS axle with an aluminum housing as indicated by the 'FI' and 'A'/'a' respectively. Essentially, it's an aluminum version of the Dana 30 with a longer pinion shaft. Unfortunately, the light weight aluminum construction makes it weaker than the D30 and the longer pinion shaft means pinion related D30 parts won't fit it.

The axle housing's aluminum construction is weak and installing a locker in the front differential could cause it to crack jor break. It is recommended that an LSD (Limited Slip) be installed in place of a locker.

So yes, a truetrac over a Detroit or lunchbox or other style locker.

Thanks guys. I just wanted to triple check since double checking showed they sent me the wrong part. Sasquatch agrees they made a mistake and I am waiting now for the resolution. The bad thing is I had to wait so long to get the wrong part. I am not going to be happy if I must wait long again for the right part.

I would have went nuclear if this was discovered when my front diff broke.
