Don't get me wrong I would love a GDE tune but there is absolutely no way I am paying 4 or $500 US plus shipping my ECM from Canada to Us and back or spending another $200 Us for the kit $700 USD x 1.34 exchange (approx) = $939.00 CAD. Not going to happen.
This is a limited production vehicle here in North America... As such, proper parts and upgrades are going to be expensive because of the lack of a high number of vehicles to amortize development and manufacturing costs.
GDE tunes are recognized as being the most headache-free tuning upgrades because all of the homework has been done for you. GDE goes into more detail in their R&D than anyone else I know of.
This is not a smear of Yeti tunes, as many people like them; but I think that you are going to have to do some homework and some other extra installation work to get exactly the kind of a tune you will want from Yeti if that is the route you want to go.
I am also unsure if Yeti's tunes come with matching transmission tunes to maximize power delivery to the wheels, while GDE does indeed have such tunes. WWDiesel or another member may be able to answer this question for you.
DO NOT make the mistake of performing cheap upgrades on your CRD; outside of the recommended Yeti tunes. These cheap upgrades will tend to cost you dearly down the road. I speak of the following...
1) The "In-hose thermostat valve upgrade".
2) The "Elephant Hose Modification" upgrade; use a Provent 200 catch can instead.
3) Installing an inline fuel lift pump, rather than a proper in-tank fuel lift pump.
