I called a shop and was quoted $475 for a new timing belt & water pump on my '05. Parts and labor. I had to ask twice to confirm that. Doesn't this seem too cheap for the job? I just don't want to waste my time and have them call me back after I drop off the Jeep to find out they made a big mistake and it's $1000+ |

Its a huge mistake! Assuming its a diesel. If they quoted for a diesel they weren't including the recommended parts either, they alone total close to $450. |

Yep, it's a CRD. darn, I figured it was too good to be true. Welp, maybe they'll be cheaper than the other place that quoted me $1650. |

they quoted a timing belt and water pump on the 2.4 gasser for sure... 02-05 were the years for that engine, it has a simple timing belt and it is non interference |

The timing belt kit from idParts (https://www.idparts.com/timing-belt-kit ... -2721.html) is $379 and the advisable ARP studs are $329. I won't guess at labor time but suggest you email/PM geordi as a traveling CRD person who has done lots of these. There is another member who travels to do this but I forget his ID. |

I *wish* the job could be done that cheaply! This would likely be another case of a dealership looking up the vehicle and missing that little "I'm a diesel and need special parts and tools" option in the labor chart. I will send you a message - The lifespan of the belt is 6 years or 100k miles, so if this is still original... It is WAY overdue on age. I can't offer you a sub-$1000 timing belt job, BUT I can guarantee my results and that your CRD will run better than it ever has. I also am able to offer a total price that will not change, before any money is spent. No surprises. |
