I have replaced my thermostat with a genuine one because of a leak.
I now read that these don't run hot enough for good economy. this one sits on 168 to 170 no matter how I drive it. Is there a quick and easy fix to get the temps up?

Jeff a.k. "Turbo-Diesel-Freak" on this forum manufactures a nice custom made thermostat housing that allows for changeable thermostat valves.
If you have the funds, this is the "Cadillac" of thermostats for the Jeep Liberty diesel:> viewtopic.php?p=905589&sid=403dd7e2d118af2916b723d2d857c44c#p905589
Not cheap, but very good and its design allows you to change and run different temperature thermostat valves within its housing depending on what temperature you want to run your engine.

Rock Auto sells a Stant branded thermostat that claims it's 188 deg F. I put this in a few months ago after the 2nd Mopar thermostat failed open. I haven't checked temps through the ECU but my temp gauge sits right at 12 o'clock.

No quick or easy fix.
Either live with what you've got or but the TDF unit.

Not likely you will notice much difference in MPG. Especially in summer time.
If you have very cold winters, then you might notice a difference.

There is also a stant 195 degree in hose thermostat that fits the part number is 13519. I have not used it with a functioning thermostat mine was stuck open. Some believe more likely to have blown head gasket using the stant . Its up to you if you think its worth the risk.

Do your engine and your pocketbook a favor and DO NOT install or use an inline thermostat.
Some that have installed them, have reported a blown head gasket or worse yet a cracked head as a result of running one.
Very simply not worth the possible risks.... :grim:
