My liberty died and this is what i found:

https://youtu.be/DPwrzQsk0Z0

Flushed and added new oil and heard the howl of crank bearings.
I had been losing about a cup of coolant a week and couldn't find where it was going. Is it possible the oil absorbed it and created this sludge? As it failed there was blue smoke coming from dip stick and exhaust. Does this mean rings and pistons are compromised as well. I found this sludge in the crankcase vent(which looked completely blocked)and the turbo flooded the intercooler hoses with oil(crankcase pressure?).

My question is: should i source another engine or rebuild this one.

I would source another engine. You may have cracked block too. You might want to indicate your location. Engines have gotten a little easier to find but often have lots of miles. But $2500 to $3000 might get you an engine you could then put another $500 or so into along with about 25 hours of work to end up with a vehicle worth about $6000 or little more , but then you would have a sense of accomplishment and pride that is priceless and you obviously already love the jeep or you wouldn't be thinking about rebuilding it !

informative video

oil from turbo blown into intercooler hose likely indicates cooked turbo seals
the emulsion created from engine coolant and lubricant mix is viscosity greater than 140 weight oil

another point of failure is lifter apertures--these are around 30 to 40 thousands/inch or 1 mm---

head warpage likely excludes reuse of this component

Youch. The passages in this engine are already so small... I would doubt that the turbo or lifters / rockers / cams are salvageable at all.

Now that said - there is a gentleman in Clearwater who just posted about his CRD that he wants to sell - looking for about $1500. The interior and the body aren't great, and the engine just dropped the timing belt so the rockers are toast. BUT that engine is abundantly more rebuildable than yours, and for less than half the price of something in a boneyard that you don't know the history / can't talk to the owner.

I'm happy to assist (I'm in South Florida) and will be driving up the West Coast in about 2 weeks or so. I'd snatch that one up now before he changes his mind!

The thread is called "busted jeep anyone want parts?" by "Totallynotaneel" and here are pics of the truck in question:

The main thing he wants is to get the money back for the tires he just bought. This is truly your best bet, and then you can part out whatever you don't need. And I may take you up on some of the parts once you know what you need for yours.

Over haul it. At my house we have 3 that we drive around and a 4th one will have it's motor pulled and gone through here soo . Just found a 5th one. Maybe it'll will be a new addition if it's a good price.
