Hey, guys. Since reviewing the feedback and comments on this post, I've changed my oil, changed my fuel filter, cleaned the MAF sensor and MAP sensor. I unplugged the MAF sensor, and the CEL came on as suggested; however, when I have the computer (Foxwell NT201) I bought connected no codes are showing up. I wanted to make sure this was a normal thing. I'll also be replacing the crankshaft and camshaft sensors this weekend. I accidentally ordered the wrong camshaft at Napa, and I realized it as soon as I pulled the camshaft sensor out. If there's anything else anyone thinks of that I should do for general maintenance, please let me know. Since my CRD went into limp mode a couple of weeks ago and doing all of the above from the NoobGuide, I haven't had any issues. I want to make sure it stays that way. Thanks in advance!

Unplugging the MAF will set a DTC (check engine light) That is normal. But the ECM only uses signal from the MAF sensor for operation of the EGR & FCV valves.

It's normal though that a computer wouldn't read a code though?

P0100 and P0101 are the common MAF codes.
Some custom ECM tunes (such as GDE) have those codes deleted.

Also, there are many scan tools that have trouble reading codes from the CRD.

The latest version Stage IV Hot Tune for 811 that I am running has the P0101 DTC deleted (0'ed out) Yeti did for me.
It's on the first page of the DIY tunes. :D :-)r

True,
The P0101 DTC delete can be added to any tune if needed. Just PM Yeti.

We are original owners of a 2006 jeep liberty crd which has 225K miles on it as of now. Early on we found out that if you go on vacation you need to unplug the fuse box because there is a small drain on the battery that after about 7-10 days, it won't start. found out the hard way at the airport parking lot 10 pm at night on a cold Colorado evening. Mu husband just pulls it prior to any vacation where it will sit for a while and we have never had any other issues.

You need to start a new topic here about your issue so that it does not get lost under the heading "2006 CARD with recurring computer issues" ie. start a thread with heading " 2006 CRD battery going flat".

Everybody can then give you advice relevant to your issue.

If the battery goes dead in 7 to 10 days without unplugging the fuse box then there is a current drain that is not normal. Unless there is a significant drain such as a dome light that doesn't cut off or maybe some aftermarket device with a high parasitic drain then there is a short somewhere or undetected power loss. I too recommend you start a new thread if you want help in diagnosing this. There are also several basic videos on you tube about how to track down the circuit that is causing the power drain. Here is a link to one of them and if your battery is good you can skip to after 4:00 minutes.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KF1gijj03_0

Hope this helps !

Once you find the circuit/fuse that is using the power then the real fun starts to track down what on that circuit is causing the problem.

What TKB4 said^^^

Once you open a new post we will guide you through how to connect a Multi-meter and pull fuses out to trace where the drain is coming from.

Then as stated the real fun begins....climbing into the wiring diagrams to track down the culprit!

What fuse number (location) are you pulling? :?
Knowing this will help all of us Doctors of CRD's in giving good advice.

Thank you for the information. My husband went through all of this a long time ago. He just pulls the fuse box from drivers door. Did not feel like following it all through. Thank you again.
