Broken wire probably touched ground and fried the Gateway Module....would need to know the colors of the wire in question.

AS these Jeeps get older I am sure wiring problems such as this are going to become more common
It is a good idea to be proactive and inspect your wiring looms if you have not and replace the protective coverings.
New coverings can be bought at most any parts store or on line.
I recovered most of mine on the engine a couple years ago after reading a post by a LOST member of a short he found behind the alternator bracket where the wires had rubbed.
Cheap insurance, some wire loom and some electrical tape!
