My '05 Lib recently started stuttering/sputtering upon acceleration. This is typically at higher RPMs/higher torque situations - usually when you stomp on the pedal at low speed. The vehicle will vibrate significantly like its having trouble engaging the drive line. Once above 15-20mph, things level out and it operates just fine. I have the Suncoast torque converter and this is different than the torque converter shudder I experienced pre-Suncoast TC. I recently replaced U-Joints as well. No codes being thrown. Any diagnostic advice here? |

Air in fuel? Need a new fuel filter? Low boost? Seems like a fuel system problem to me |

Is is bellowing any black smoke out the exhaust when it does this? If so, could be a low boost issue. Does the vehicle still have the EGR system functional? If so, the EGR valve could be leaking by causing you to loose boost. They are notorious for this! Air in fuel could also be the issue which would not allow the fuel rail pressure to build to the required pressure which would basically starve the engine for fuel when demand required it. ![]() |
