![]() Hey guys, I was looking to get some advice for how to get my shocks and struts replaced most cost effectively? Source to buy them as well as where you all think I can get the best bang for my buck for the installation. Thanks in advance, RAC |

Current shocks and struts are oem, and I do not plan on lifting my vehicle in the near future. |

ID Parts has a couple options for non lifted kj crd. Best value for install is always diy if you are able. Lots of guides on lost, just search. You can remove your front strut assemblies yourself and have a local shop with a heavy duty spring compressor swap out the strut cylinders for you. Reinstall yourself and then bring it in to someone for an alignment. In my local area that would cost about $150 plus the cost of new shocks and struts. It's hard for us to advise you on best value for a professional install without being familiar with your local area. |

If you want to order some good OEM replacement shocks and struts like Bilsteins', you can order them online from Shock Warehouse. They have good prices and will ship to your door. They also carry several other brands. https://www.shockwarehouse.com/index.cf ... _year=2005 As to the labor, the rears are real easy to change, the fronts require a strut compressor tool to change them out. Depending on your mechanical ability, you can simply remove the strut assembly and take it to a shop that has the proper tools and let them change the strut. or Simply take the vehicle to a good shop and pay them to do all the R&R labor for all shocks. If you don't have the proper strut compressor tool or access to one, DO NOT try to do it yourself. Very dangerous!!! |

I tried the KYB GR-2 shocks on mine. Worst shocks ever. Most will say that the Monroe shocks are crap also. Currently running Gabriel front shocks with OME 2790 lift springs and I am very pleased with them. |

Currently running Gabriel shocks on all four of one CRD. I am pleased with the ride, but the rears seem to have worn out fairly quickly. Then again I do go over a lot of dirt roads.Probably would get them again. |
