I know this is gonna sound like a stupid question, but... How much fuel is in the tank? |

First thing I would do is hold the odometer button down while turning the key to the on position and watch the instrument display and see if the fuel gauge moves to the various positions 1/4 1/2 3/4 and full. This would at least prove whether or not the gauge is capable of reacting to a change in sending unit voltage . I also think it is most likely a wiring problem since the fuel gauge not working should not prevent the vehicle from starting. This will sound stupid too, but I would add a few gallons of fuel just to make sure the fuel pickup didn't break off when whatever happened to the sender unit. |

I would also check for codes that could reveal another reason for no start. |

Could be something broke inside the fuel tank so the fuel pickup line is sticking up in mid air! You would need to drop the tank to access the flap at the top. |
