My wife, daughter, and I are leaving tomorrow for a camping trip. Total miles will be around 2700. I'm going to try to run biodiesel as much as possible. I will post mileage for the trip when we get back. BTW, we will be camping in the Black Hills of SD(Spearfish). If anyone on the list would like to get together PM me and I'll send you my cell # so we can meet.

Worst tank of fuel was 19 mpg. This was the average while running around in the Black Hills in 4wd. Best tank was 28 mpg while going about 68 with a tailwind. Most tanks came in at 23-25 while doing 75-80 mph on the interstate loaded with gear. CRD didn't miss a beat during the trip. I'm a happy camper, no pun intended.

Your mileage will continue to improve.

I have 7500 miles and drive 40 miles each way to work at 65MPH, I have been really surprised that my mileage is only around 23MPG.....

Obviously you are not driving I-5 during rush hour!

With my CRD the mileage started improving at about 9K and when I figured out how to drive it at 60 MPH and 1700 RPM's. Most of my driving is under 60 MPH and if you never get to 65 you will never make it into 5th gear, lower RPM and better mileage. 60 MPH without 5th is about 250 RPM's faster.

That's about where I've been with my 50 mile each way, 65mph commutes. Usually see 4 commutes per tank (won't do 5 safely). It is very consistant, usually @ 420 miles then refill in the 17-18 gal range. My commutes are also all off-peak hours, set the cruise and forget it for 45 minutes.

My case, I work in transit and sometimes have to be there before the snowplow driver is out of bed or stay long after they park-it for the night. The one thing positive I can say, I've never seen a vehicle chew through snow like the CRD. Can't imagine what it will do with real tires. :D
