I'm missing something.... From idparts website: ===== Cylinder Head Install Kit (Liberty CRD) - 5166482AA •Head Gasket (choose size below) + OE Head Bolt Set •Exhaust Manifold Gasket •Valve Cover Gasket •Full set of Intake Gaskets •Exhaust manifold to turbocharger gasket •Set of 4 Injector Seals and O-Rings •Thermostat Gasket •Oil Return Line Gasket •Set of 12 nuts for the exhaust manifold and turbocharger Sub-Total: $287.20 ===== Head Gasket and Head Bolt Kit (Liberty CRD) $129.95 Exhaust Manifold Gasket (Liberty CRD) $10.95 Valve Cover Gasket (Liberty CRD) $38.25 Intake Elbow Gasket & Seal Kit (Liberty CRD) 9.99 Intake Manifold Square Gasket (Liberty CRD) $6.50 Turbocharger Gasket (Liberty CRD) $21.20 Injector Seal & O-Ring Kit (Liberty CRD) qty4 $35.80 Thermostat Gasket Seal (Liberty CRD) $1.60 Oil Return Line Seal Kit (Liberty CRD) $8.95 Copper Pinch Nut (M8) qty 12 $11.40 Sub-Total: $274.59 ===== Why is the kit $13 more than the loose parts? Am I missing something in my parts list? The reason this comes up is because they are out of stock on "Intake Elbow Gasket & Seal Kit" so I cannot order the kit.... That caused me to create shopping list by hand. I just want to be sure I'm not missing anything else.... |

The 5166482AA PN is a "Mopar" HG kit which may be why it is slightly higher. The parts list you put together is probably not Mopar parts, which would explain the lower costs. As to the MOPAR kit PN 5166482AA it is also available from Rock Auto and from several of the Mopar dealer online vendors at lower costs. Mopar Parts Giant: $246.18 > https://www.moparpartsgiant.com/parts/m ... 482aa.html Rock Auto: $244.99 > https://www.rockauto.com/en/parts/mopar ... /+set,5412 There are quite a few 5166482AA kits listed on eBay for less than $200.00 with free shipping. There are even some "VM Motori" brand kits listed on eBay for less than $200.00. |

yeah, if you notice on head gasket in kit it doesn't say OE but it does on the head bolts and has a OEM part number and their part number listed, but you would need to ask them for sure. I got the brand head gasket they carry and seems exactly like original maybe they make it for Chrysler. |

I think I was a bit unclear. idparts sells a "cylinder head install kit" which consists of 10 line items and costs $287. I spec'd out each individual part in that kit it comes to $274. I don't understand why "kit" would be more expensive than "collection of parts" which makes me think my collection is missing something... usually the point of "kits" is to save a few bucks. Since idparts doesn't indicate brands in their "cylinder head install kit" I can't really be sure of what I'm getting, but they only sell one brand of cylinder head gasket, one brand of valve cover gasket, etc. so I can only assume it's apples-apples... my ten line items are the same brands as their ten line items. |

I'd still say their 5166482AA PN is a "Mopar" HG kit and the spec'd list is non Mopar. But you would have to talk to ID Parts to find out for sure. But your list vs the kit list do seem to have the same parts listed. |

Searching 5166482AA on their site gets you two options: Head Gasket and Head Bolt Kit (Liberty CRD) $129.95 Head Gasket (Liberty CRD) $99.95 both appear to use MOPAR bolts and an Elring gasket. I'm 100% fine with Elring - that's a quality component, all I've used on Saabs, BMWs, and VAGs for many years. I would not be surprised to find the VM and MOPAR head gaskets are just rebranded & marked up Elring. Saab did that for decades! I'm gonna pull the trigger on my parts list and save the $13. That lets me get going now, since they cannot ship the full kit for a couple weeks as they're out of throttle body gasket kits. I won't be that far in the build til December anyway. Not at this rate! Thanks for all the help! |

Quote: •Head Gasket (choose size below) + OE Head Bolt Set •Exhaust Manifold Gasket •Valve Cover Gasket •Full set of Intake Gaskets •Exhaust manifold to turbocharger gasket •Set of 4 Injector Seals and O-Rings •Thermostat Gasket •Oil Return Line Gasket •Set of 12 nuts for the exhaust manifold and turbocharger Here's what you REALLY need: Head gasket AND bolts/studs Set of 4 Injector Seals and O-Rings Thermostat Gasket (or make your own, its just regular gasket paper) Oil Return Line Gaskets, to include the one in the block. The flexible return pipe is helpful too. Set of 12 nuts for the exhaust manifold and turbocharger. As long as the valve cover gasket isn't torn or damaged, it can be reused. Its very durable. The turbo and exhaust manifold gaskets are multi-layer stainless steel. I reused mine, still no exhaust leaks. |

Flash is also forgetting the turbo manifold gasket, turbo crush washers, intake manifold gasket, intake elbow gasket (if you don't have the elbow kit egr delete)... You don't need to take the exhaust off the head, and can't do that with the turbo still on it anyway. Definitely you want the ARP studs however, and you want to replace the valves since you are removing the head. Missing these steps and then losing a valve into the cylinder would be a crying shame. |

Wayyyyyyyyyyyyy past that. Head is off. Turbo off. Manifold off. All valves/guides replaced. Cracks welded, broken studs extracted. |

Cracks? What cracks? This is a cast aluminum head, they don't like being welded on.... Has it been pressure tested? |

A very qualified machine shop took care of it, nothing to worry about. |
