$200 comprehensive 2005 CRD scan tool?

Hopefully someone can comment on whether or not this will work for 2005 crd.

At the end of the description, it says it has DRBIII capability "for older vehicles ".

I spent a good part of summer researching that tool and found NOTHING concrete about using it as a DRBIII equivalent. I have gotten mountains of use from a clone Tech 2 (GM's tool for '92-'12) and would love to have something similar for the Jeep, but most threads I've found on the Micropod talk about using it for a very narrow range of CJD cars... like '07 to '14 or something. I couldn't find any specific accounts of using it on older models. Like with the clone Tech 2, it comes down to how well whoever hacked the DRB emulation software did their job... in Tech 2 land, the answer is VERY BAD, but fortunately some enterprising 3rd (4th?) parties addressed that issue to a large degree, and you can use their software lieu of what you get when you order the unit.

For whatever it's worth, this site has been pretty good to the clone Tech 2 community, and they have some info about DRB emulation with Micropod:

This entire webpage screams "Chinesium knockoff" to me - right down to the "reasons to choose their product" including highlighting that it comes in a static bag. Like really... Who cares about the packaging!

When they don't have anything to say about the product, talk about how "perfect for good life" it is. They missed that line specifically, but you know what I'm talking about. I'd be SHOCKED if this was anything other than yet another ELM327 device, the entire functionality of this is going to be related to the software and nothing more. If they are using knockoff software from someone else... Whether it works is anyone's guess.

At least with the ELM327 devices, there are LOTS of app options in the smartphone app stores and most of them are cheap or free.

Yeah, there's an ebay seller that sell packages that encompasses a wide range of vehicles for about 12-$1400.

"That would give you coverage from ~1996-2017 via the Enhanced DRB 3 emulator and witech 17.04.27 (offline only). Here is a link to one I have listed on OfferUp for more details on that."

Nah, these are factory tools built from pirated factory designs with hacked factory software. Not built to the same quality standards, but factory tools. You can buy clones of pretty much every automotive factory tool from China... as I mentioned in the previous post I have a clone GM tool. It will do literally anything the actual Bosch/Vetronix tool will do - it's essentially indistinguishable. I paid $200 for it, same as the Ford VCM tool costs or this MOPAR witech.

Autoengenuity makes good products, but like other 3rd party tools (OTC, Snapon, Launch, Autel) it's all reverse engineered so you don't get 100% capability or compatibility, just a approximation of a subset. I use a pretty high end Autel tool for non GM cars I own, and even though the clone Tech 2 can be a bit finicky it's still head and shoulders over the Autel.

For $1200 I've found snap-on solus update through 2018 for both foreign and domestic, right off the tool truck.

Of course it's a knock off, it's 1500$ less than the real mopar one.

I think it can be an interesting tool for 200$

I think that looks like an original Pod and not a a Micropod 2, but probably the experience it similar. From my perspective, it is very similar to bringing up and using a clone Tech 2... everything is just a tad bit off but it works great anyway.

I'll give you an honest review of the Autoenginuity from an actual user. I bought it and the "chrysler enhanced" module from them, when they could have JUST sold the enhanced module alone. It did offer visibility of a lot of new modules and sensors over the basic OBD.... HOWEVER everything was "look but no touching" so if you wanted to recode the headlight timer or reprogram the TPMS or the overhead module... You were SOL with this. For what it offers, it is very overpriced. I'd take the gamble on the Chinesium knockoff of the DRBIII over the AutoEnginuity any day - at least you have the hope of actual functionality, and it is cheaper!

I have a micropod 2 clone. I successfully used it to disable the tpms system on my 06. Been a while since I set it up, but I remember creating a thread about it here on LJ.

Does the software that comea with the clone run under Windows XP or something newer?

Mines running on windows 7.

Edit: It's been so long I forgot how I set it up. My pod came with a hard drive with a windows os on it ( xp or 7 ) and the program preinstalled. I had to install it in my laptop.

Awesome, thanks... I am seriously thinking about giving this a go... my only hesitation is that it's gonna be a good long while before I can test it, and by then I'm SOL on return options... but I think the import tariffs are gonna blow the price up here in a couple weeks. Rock and a hard place!

I got a micropod II and it would never connect to my jeep.

The first one I got did that to me too. It didn't come with a hard drive. Did yours? The 2nd one I got came with a HDD and works great.
