Replaced a non charging alt this week. To have the replaced alt fail in the same manner. The original removed, looked on the newer side aswell. Not sure of history of vehicle. Only put 5000 km on it since it was purchased. Battery checks out perfect. Any ideas?

It's probably just bad. Part stores rebuilt alternators are crappy at best. I'd look into getting your original rebuilt if it is OEM.

What exactly went wrong?
Bad bearings?
Bad pulley?
Or just not charging?

Did you also test the battery?
A bad alternator will kill a battery.
