 Post subject: Driveshaft doughnut

What is it called: the large metal donut that connects the rear driveshaft to the transfer case? It seems to have some looseness / clanking.

Its a vibration dampener.
Are you sure its the dampener that is loose or is it the driveshaft slip yoke?

Thanks for the replies.

I can't pinpoint the noise, only that it appears / sounds like that's the location as there's some movement there that doesn't look right. Guess I'll just have to remove it to inspect further.

I just didn't know how common a problem this was. I also suspect something going on the TC related to that tail shaft ??

Not sure I'm qualified to do that type of exploratory surgery. :dizzy: The most I'll be able to do is remove the DS yoke and see if there's anything obvious.
