Can anyone tell me where the fuel pickup is for the Webasto heater should come from. Tap into the fuel line, put a fitting and pickup tube in the top of the in tank fuel pump or put a fitting in the fuel tank itself. Experience, recommendations, thoughts.

The Webasto tsl-17 comes with a pick up tube and all the hardware to install it by drilling a hole on top of the fuel tank.
It as is own fuel line and fuel pump.

ABSOLUTELY CORRECT. DO NOT TAP OFF OF ANOTHER FUEL LINE; THE WEBASTO MUST BE SUPPLIED WITH IT'S OWN LINE RIGHT FROM THE FUEL TANK.

The 923369 universal installation kit has the TSL17 heater itself and all of the basic installation hardware including a separate fuel pick-up tube that goes in the top of the tank. The TSL17 heater is fed by it's own metering pump and is VERY sensitive; any extra fuel pressure will bugger up proper fuel metering to the heater's combustion chamber.

Webasto Thermo & Comfort North America's technical department does not even like to see an installation where the heater is below the level of the fuel tank. Here is their contact number for more information... 1-810-593-6000. You can also e-mail them at hotline@webasto-us.com, and their website is http://www.webasto.us.

Thanks. The reason I asked is I have the tank out to install the in tank lift pump and wanted to do the plumbing for a future Webasto.

YES! Why drop the tank twice? I have been telling CRD owners this for at least three years now.

If you are not purchasing a 923369 kit that has the dip tube and other hardware necessary for the in-tank part of the install, where are you getting your parts?

This is how my lift pump with fuel tube install turned out. I got the Thermo Top Evo 5013379A kit, which seems to have everything needed to do the install in my CRD, including the SmarTemp fx 2.0.
